A sow’s ear into a silk purse?
Isn’t there a saying that You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear? The free dictionary states that this means that one cannot make a quality product from inferior material.
But then who said a sow’s ear is not a quality product? Massachusetts industrialist Arthur D. Little decided to take up the challenge. At a meat-packer he obtained the equivalent of a sow’s ear worth of glue made from sows’ ears and processed it into a fibre. This he wove into cloth which he then fashioned into a “purse”. Actually it looks fittingly like a sausage tied off at the ends and some kind of belting in the middle. MMM…
Besides the man cheated. Since he actually picked on making that purse out of a sow’s ear, he disguised its protein made into glue through processing with other chemicals into a fibre to resemble silk. He made a product that was definitely quality, just like a pig has its quality. So he made the fibre for the purse from pig quality to look like silk but of pig quality plus the quality of the chemicals he used. But it was no silk.
Just as the pig fibre originated from pig protein, silk originates from the protein composing the cocoons of the silk caterpillars that is spun from the bodies of these caterpillars around themselves. So there is a similarity. However silk fibre is spun from the fine filament fibres unwound from the cocoon without the addition of chemicals. It does not require other chemicals to perfect it.
We all know about Rollex watches. They are produced of the best materials and workmanship, and cost accordingly. But you can buy imitation Rollex watches for much less that keep time as well as any watch, but soon the “gold” wears off and often they die from moisture or a drop on the ground. Yet when new, the fakes glistened like the real thing. The fake had a different quality that was less than that of the real Rollex.
So it is very true that you cannot make a sow’s ear into a silk purse. Nevertheless, this inovation demonstrates the creativeness of the human mind. And are you going to tell me we humans crawled out of the slime and evolved into intelligent people?
If you were plunked on a deserted island without chance of rescue, without any life on it except wild pigs, birds, rodents, trees, fruits, nuts, weeds that could be eaten as vegetables, a mountain containing essential metals, yea, and even a pleasant climate, could you immediately reproduce the tools, structures, modes of transport, amenities and comfort of our civilization? No? Why not? You were smart, applied yourself and learned all the things you had to know to produce a civilized lifestyle: You can’t do it because you have to start fron scratch inventing everything from the resources you have on hand. So would you consider yourself evolving as a human as you fashion crude instruments for survival because you do not have the means to live according to your intellectual experiences? Of course not.
So being a something crawling out of the slime, how could this “human” exist and evolve into what we look like now? I think you are putting yourself and all of us down if you think that. Just like you can’t turn pig protein into silk you can’t turn some kind of live molecule in the mud into a human being. This evolution stuff is just a theory, and a pretty bad one at that. There are too many factors that it cannot answer. It cannot even prove that this molecule of life actually turned into a human, how it reproduced, or became intelligent, why it even needed shelter like all humans we know of do when it had no shelter coming out of the slime. And if the slimy mud was its shelter, would it not have stayed there?
As demonstrated by the sow’s ear proverb, you cannot make one thing of one composition into another existing thing of another composition. Also it required someone with the brains to alter the look and feel of the sow’s ear to create a purse. Today we are all upset by the genetic engineering of plants and other living things because we instinctively know that although the plant looks like the real thing, it is changed and can possibly harm us. Even hybridized plant seed is a fake because if the plant growing from it even makes seed, that new seed is inferior and will produce inferior plants, fruit, or not even sprout. You can only maintain its integrity by reproduction through cuttings…something not always feasible and legally not allowed. And guess what: all these hybrid plants did not evolve. They were created by intelliget minds.
You see it takes a catalyst, an action from another source to affect a transformation. Would you rather believe inert mud is responsible for your creation, or that something with brains created you?
Ok, let’s say an intelligent being made humans. That would indicate that this being was more intelligent and had greater capabilities at the instance of creation than the human he created. Just like intelligent people created the computer, the computer is not more intelligent than his makers. I know, when you work on your computer you marvel at how it can figure things out, find information so quickly. You think it is smarter than you. But it is not. The functions are all programmed into the computer software by a smart human first. The computer only follows your instruction to use that software to work out the problem you give it by using the instruction in the program to assemble the answer. And how do you know how to use that software to get answers to your questions, or design images, or write a letter? By reading and doing what the instruction manual, the creator of that software provides, says.
So, now that we have determined that we humans were created, for lack of a better proven theory, the creator must tell us how to live. He created us with intelligence, but there are no books around so we can read. Actually we need to use that intelligence we have to invent an alphabet so we can write. MMM.. I guess we need to first invent words to interpret things and ideas before we need the lettering to put the words in writing. Our creator therefore programmed some essential language into the human he created so he could talk and the human understand what he was to do.
Where then is the creator telling us what to do? It seems every nationality and race has its own stories handed down about how they came into existence. No wonder those of higher education, who look at this chaotic and contradictory assembly of stories, dismiss them as imagination and superstition. Instead these intellectuals reason the creation of humans to be an ongoing process. That’s odd because they know everything else is already created. Why should humans be different? This too is a Babel of confusion. Why would the creator confuse humans? None of these intellectuals could have had instruction from the creator on the purpose of and how to live life, or did they?
Historical and archeological evidence indicates that humans did not evolve but grew in knowledge that was applied without the benefit of the creator’s instructions. Each growth in knowledge sparked a higher level of sophistication in lifestyle. That is not evolution. A baby grows and learns. Its first efforts at play are clumsy but get better over time through practice and increased knowledge. You know that, and you would never say the baby is evolving from a dumb thing into a talking smart individual. We all know that all humankind probably grew into smarts the same way a baby does. Given the available knowledge at any given time humans grew into today’s knowledge through eras of knowledge growth. As groups of people separated from each other and lived in different parts of the world so did inventions come to differ since there was not much communication from group to group.
One of the most obvious areas of difference resides in the field of medicine. Western medicine split into allopathic and natural medical fields with the allopathic more prevalent in the USA and homeopathic in Europe. From the far east come medical treatments that vary from environmental to natural therapies. All of them work.
Today communication through translation is helping humans to learn everything anyone has discovered and allows humans to grow exponentially in knowledge in every field. That is why our civilizations are experiencing unbelievable growth in technology and material marvels, and why, because of attitude, humans experience a lack of knowledge in living a life of joy, while they live in increased comfort and selfindulgence. Most knowledge leads to inventions that are good and bad depending on the inventor’s and user’s attitudes. When we look around us today, we can definitely see that human civilization is based on selfish attitudes as only few inventions are truly for the benefit of all. Why? Because there are too many versions of what humans think are the creator’s instructions.
Any creator loves his work. There is no way the creator of humans would not lovingly supply them with instructions on how to function perfectly and give them the kind of environment humans need. Are we listening to his call?
The instruction book that has all the answers states in Romans 1:18-25 that God the creator of all is angry with all those wise guys. He says that everything about God, his power and godhead was shown to them through his creation. But when they knew about God they would not aknowledge Him nor glorify Him nor were they thankful. Instead they became vain from their belief in their own wisdom and their heart was darkened so that they followed their own imaginings and worshipped the creation and things made from wood and stone in the images of their own visions of God rather than the living God. They turned the truth of God into a lie wherefore God the creator says He gave them up to all the vile behaviors they craved. That’s why we have total bedlam in our lives.
Human creation is finished. You can’t build a different human body, nor a better one with cloning because cloning will not replicate everything just like you can’t create a silk purse from a sow’s ear! Want to know why you can’t clone an Einstein? Ok, next time.
